Prof. Alice Maniatis

Alice Maniatis is Professor Emerita of the University of Patras and Director of Hematology at Henry Dunant Hospital, Athens, Greece. Following her graduation from the University of Athens Medical School, she trained in Internal Medicine and Hematology in Boston, at the New England Medical Center of Tufts University, leaving in 1970 as an Assistant professor, to move to N.Y City. She continued her work at St.Lukes hospital of Columbia University, where she became director of the Blood Bank, Associate Director of Hematology and Associate Professor of Medicine. She returned to Greece in 1980 and organized the Hematology Division and Bone Marrow Transplantation unit at the Anticancer Institute in Athens. In 1989 she was elected professor of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine at the University of Patras. She is president of the NATA ( Network for the Advancement of Transfusion Alternatives) and the Hellenic Society of Blood Transfusion.
