Bellovac ABT for postoperative collection and reinfusion. With Bellovac ABT autologous whole blood shed after orthopaedic surgery can be collected and reinfused to the patient. The product has been proven to significantly reduce the proportion of patients given bank blood after hip and knee surgery (Moonen 2007). Experience from over 600 000 patients shows that this is a safe and simple method to reduce bank blood related costs as well as the pressure on national blood banks. When collection for reinfusion is completed Bellovac ABT continues to work as a standard wound drain.

Sangvia, an intraoperative system with the option of postoperative use. Bellovac ABT has been used widely for post-operative blood salvage, with our new product Sangvia we can now offer an autologous whole blood solution also for intraoperative use in orthopaedic surgery. Just like Bellovac ABT, this system consists only of consumables, offering a cost effective solution from the theatre through recovery and on to the ward. The Sangvia system will be introduced in the spring of 2008.
